Partner Highlight: Designs on Willow

Designs on Willow is a small business in Palo, Iowa, started by Nichol Foster in 2016. Nichol has always had a strong interest in art and business, which lead her to create everything from wood signs to wreaths + floral designs!

In 2019 she found a passion for creating + pouring her own soy candles. Nichol creates all of the fragrances herself. Throughout the past five years she’s tried many different candle fragrances, keeping a careful eye on what people tend to enjoy the most! Our favorite candles from Designs on Willow are their cow bowl candles, that look just like a holstein cow!

When pouring soy candles, Nichol always has just a little bit left over from each batch. Not wanting to let anything go to waste, she’s created another no-waste product for her customers: fire starters! “I use wicks that have be cut off of new candles, and since I am a florist I always have rose petals, eucalyptus, and other fun pieces around. So I dry those and add them to the fire starters,” said Nichol. These beautiful fire starters are ready for your next backyard bonfire! They make wonderful gifts, and many say they are even too beautiful to burn!

You can find Designs on Willow products on their website and Facebook page. And you can find their beautiful hand poured candles [both 9 oz jars and cow bowl candles] and fire starters at Dan and Debbie’s Creamery!
