Partner Highlight: Tea Cellar

There’s so many possibiliTEA’s in Cedar Falls, Iowa! Tea Cellar opened their doors on November 3rd, 2016 in an actual seller. After two years, they moved locations, and above ground, and have been at their current location in Cedar Falls for the last six years.

“With a German background, I have been a true tea drinker since I was a little girl. My Opa and Oma were the ones who taught me the finer points of drinking tea. I would pour a little from my cup into the saucer to let it cool and then slurp it ever so gently. I’m sure it’s not ladylike, but I loved it!” said Justeen Hill, owner and founder of Tea Cellar.

“In the beginning, I relied on my suppliers for their blending techniques and expertise,” said Justeen, “Within a year we were experimenting ourselves.” Between their six tea suppliers they can acquire a wide variety of teas, but some of their finest tea is imported from Germany. You can find 88 different flavors of tea at the Tea Cellar, ranging from white to green, oolong to black, and puerh to chai tea.

Their cafe is very busy Monday through Saturday all year long. You can come in and enjoy a fresh pot of tea and shop around at the 88 different flavors that they offer in various sizes. And their cafe is usually busy with 18-25 year olds enjoying a pot of tea. “We love debunking the idea that little old ladies are the only tea drinkers out there!” said Justeen.

“I encourage anyone who has a dream in their heart to pursue that dream. It does take planning and yes, it even takes money, but I was determined to not let anything stand in my way. The result has been a beautiful tea experience for hundreds and maybe even thousands of people who come through the door and are pleasantly surprised that a business can offer tea and only tea And yet provide a sweet experience,” said Justeen.
