Behind the Scenes at the Creamery: July is nearly here!
Holy cow July is almost here! That means the summer is nearly half over – and we just can’t believe it!!
Summer is always busy around the creamery and on the farm. We see more visitors and we get to host more groups for tours. We are so excited to see all ages of groups throughout the whole summer visit us for creamery tours! If your group is still looking for something fun to do the second half of summer, we still have a few dates available in July + August, come learn about what we do at the creamery!
We also love to welcome visitors coming through town on the Cedar Valley Nature Trail! The new city bike parking and public parking lot just outside of our creamery are perfect for that trip on the bike or car!
While the store is busy with visitors from all over the state, I am focused on finding new Iowa made products to bring into our retail store. We are so proud to partner with local farmers, producers, and makers to bring you the best that Iowa has to offer right here in Ely! Some of the newest additions to the creamery store include a fantastic bloody Mary mix from Mullet’s Bloody Mary Mix out of Ankeny, Iowa and amazing locally raised products from Rhubarb Botanicals. Find scar salve, bug bite balm, limber salve, herbal teas, and even cocktail bitters that are all made from crops raised in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Come on over and try all these new local products for yourself!
And even though we are in the heat of summer, I am still looking ahead and starting to plan for our fall and holiday events at the creamery! Our Holiday Eats Taste of Iowa has been a fan favorite for the past few years and we are also planning our very popular Christmas Maker’s Market for December as well. Look for more details to be announced in August and September for these holiday events.
Of course this time of year our make room is just a bumpin’ making delicious dairy products all week long! We have had to be flexible with our small production team and schedule, so if you’re a cheese curd fan, you’ve probably noticed that we have been making a fresh vat of cheese curds on Wednesdays or Tuesdays. We have been very lucky to have some of our staff be flexible and transition to our production team to assist us in the busy season. And we are just so grateful that we get to do what we love everyday and be your local dairy farmer all year long. Thank you for choosing us, and we look forward to the second half of summer! Stay cool!
