Behind the Larder Box

This year, we’re introducing a NEW! Larder Box series. Thoughtfully curated local food bundles featuring a variety of fresh, seasonal foods from Iowa farms and producers. These aren’t traditional CSAs or subscriptions, just one-time bundles offered from time to time as the seasons unfold.

Traditionally, a “larder” was a cool storage space in the home, often a pantry or cellar, where families kept the foods they relied on throughout the year. It held staples chosen with intention, meant to last, and used thoughtfully as the seasons changed. That idea is the heart behind these boxes, and why we chose the name.

Our Larder Boxes are designed to help you try new things, expand your everyday menus, and feel more connected to where your food comes from; while supporting the farmers and local producers who make it all possible.

As we work closely with local farmers and producers, we’ll release different Larder Boxes throughout the year. Each with its own name, inspired by what’s truly in season here. Inspired by old pantry and root cellar traditions, they’re not subscriptions or meal kits — just local food, offered when the season makes sense.

Eating seasonally matters. It connects us to the land, supports local farms, and invites a slower, more intentional way of cooking and eating. We’re already brainstorming the next Larder Box and working closely with local farmers on what’s coming next, and we can’t wait to share more with you very soon.
