Partner Highlight: Buffalo Ridge Orchard

We love small family farms like ours, and Buffalo Ridge Orchard has a lot in common with us! Their small family farm relies on a small dedicated staff who are committed to producing high quality local food. Their founders, Vern and Mary Zahradnik started the orchard in 2003 when they planted their first apple tree. They transitioned a traditional 80-acre agricultural farm in Central City, Iowa to one that is focused on supplying vegetables, apples, and pears to their community responsibly.

In the last 20 years the orchard has expanded from 800 to over 5,500 trees and boasts over 50 different types of apple varieties.

They sell their products online, in their seasonal farm store, and at partner retailers like our creamery store! Beyond just selling their produce, they also use their apples in a variety of fresh delicious products like apple chips, apple turnovers, apple butter, jellies, apple crisp, and, of course, apple pie!
