Partner Highlight: Rolling Hills Greenhouse

There’s some pretty green things happening over in West Union! Rolling Hills Greenhouse grows fresh lettuce and herbs in their hydroponics greenhouse.

About Rolling Hills Greenhouse

Before they moved to Iowa and started Rolling Hills Greenhouse, they raised irrigation corn, soybeans, and dry land wheat in Kansas. They enjoy watching things grow, and thought that hydroponics would be a nice challenge, so they set up their greenhouse just outside of West Union, Iowa in 2010. As soon as the corn was off the field behind their Iowan home, construction on the new greenhouse began.

In their greenhouse, they utilize hydroponic greenhouse technology, which allows Rolling Hills to supply their products consistently year round in the tough Iowa weather. Their lettuce and herbs are fed with nutrient balanced water running in a tray under their roots. All lettuce and herbs are grown indoors year around. This is incredibly important when building a brand and customer base, but it also provides stability for their employees.

In their greenhouse they grow five different varieties of lettuce, 12 different varieties of herbs, arugula, and watercress. Rolling Hills prides themselves of growing chemical and preservative free food, so you can have peace of mind in your veggies.

Where to find their products

Rolling Hills Greenhouse sells their fresh veggie products wholesale to many retailers across the state of Iowa, and you can even find their spring mix lettuce in our creamery store year round! And you can add their fresh spring mix to your home delivery and have it delivered right to your door! Recently we brought in some of their potted herbs and they are amazing! We offer basil, cilantro, mint, rosemary, and chives in our store.
